MR Dominion is partnering with a very successful Midwestern Bank that is functionally looking to hire a Director – Financial Planning & Analysis. Our firm, MR Dominion is an affiliate of Management Recruiters International. We specialize in the banking ‘vertical’, primarily working with $0 to $20B banks nationwide. Our specialty is placing top performers within Accounting, Finance, and Risk – primarily CFO’s, Treasurers, Corporate Finance, and Chief Accounting Officer roles, amongst others.
This critical role will provide you with a key position in finance for the institution and will not only help build, but in many ways transform finance and build a bridge enterprise wide into all of the different lines of business. The client has a very robust Mortgage line of business, Servicing line of business, this FP&A role is with the $10B+ Community Bank and it reports to the Data/Business Intelligence leader at the bank. Over the last several years, this has been a newer, more proactive approach for the organization, but one that is necessary based on the ever-changing financial services environment which will really enhance and streamline decision making processes in the various lines of business, but in your case their Community Bank.
In this role you will be part leader, part mentor, part finance person, part diplomat, part problem solver, as you utilize your data-driven FP&A background and highly tuned listening skills to truly understand your line of business, the other lines of business, what the needs are, and what forward-thinking approach can the finance team use to assist everyone in achieving their goals. From a macro perspective you will focus on the financial quarterly forecast, annual budgeting process, operating plan variance analysis, and truly digging down into profitability and the data extracts to help with LOB decisioning as well as Corporate decision making. You will be responsible for implementing an integrated driver based financial model to project both the short and long-term results of the organization and impacts on key financial measures for the bank. In this position you need to be a thought partner with bank leaders and the finance team and you need to be able to effectively influence and drive results within the organization. They have a consensus-building culture, not a ‘bull in the china shop’ culture, one needs to be aware of that. You also must possess the ability to present information in an easily digestible fashion to help drive faster decision making. This is a highly visible role, which requires significant interaction with executives and senior management to understand and identify business issues, translating data into actionable insights and to make recommendations. This is role is also a leader/mentor role for the department of fifteen folks and works with little supervision. You must be a quick study on the lines that are new to you and have a long-range focus.
Our Ideal Candidate will possess twelve to fifteen years of financial analysis and modeling experience in BANKING. Your resume must reflect ability for critical thinking demonstrated by examples of specific projects and related outcomes.
