MR Dominion is partnering with a growing Georgia community bank on a Senior Risk Officer role with eventual succession planning to the Chief Risk Officer sometime in the future.  It reports to an outstanding Chief Executive Officer who has a strategic vision and an appetite for growth and the desire to hire humble, smart, autonomous professionals.  Our firm, MR Dominion, is an affiliate of Management Recruiters International and specializes in placing accounting, finance, audit, and risk professionals in $0 to $20B Banks all over the country.


Our client is a publicly traded entity and is looking for this Senior Risk Officer to upgrade all facets of enterprise risk within the bank including audit, risk, and compliance amongst other areas.  The framework is solid, but with anticipated future growth, there is much work to be done to not only catch up, but to build for the future. 


In this key role, you, the Senior Risk Officer, would provide leadership by establishing processes which will help identify, measure, prioritize, and ultimately mitigate risk enterprise wide.   Your responsibility is to ensure that the evolving risk environment in banking is understood and to educate executive and senior management to make sure risk is properly understood and translated into meaningful business requirements and objectives.  Again, a solid risk culture does exist today, we are looking to enhance it.  To be successful in this organization the client is looking for a business partner, not a ‘gotcha’ mentality.  You will be building a bridge with Compliance, Audit, Loan Review, and IT and overseeing their activities from a risk perspective.  Although you will have your independence, which is key, there are elements of it being a collaborative partnership as well.


Possessing a banking background with an exposure to risk, audit, and compliance dealing with banking regulatory authorities is a must have skill set as well.  The key expertise will be  identifying and monitoring emerging risks, and integrating risk management principles into the strategic organizational framework.  Having been a former Audit Manager or Risk Officer within a bank, possessing a public accounting background, with the ability to grow into the position while the bank grows would be an ideal scenario in this situation.   Ten years of banking expertise with an MBA or CPA or Certification in Risk Management is strongly preferred.
