Whether a Community or Small Regional Bank looking for top talent, or an Accounting & Finance Professional looking for your next career opportunity, if the Executive Recruiter you are looking for needs to specialize in Accounting and Finance within the Banking Industry and provide insight that only an industry specialist can provide, you may have just found the perfect business partner.
Greg Barlow is a seventeen-year veteran of the Recruiting Industry and for the last twelve years has been very narrowly niched in the Banking Sector placing CFO's, Chief Accounting Officers, Treasurers, Asset & Liability Managers, and Corporate Finance folks (FP&A, Profitability), etc. in well-established $0 to $20B Banks all over the United States.
The last eight years of banking has not been kind to bankers or those associated with the banking industry, but Greg's positive, upbeat demeanor and tenacity has allowed MR Dominion to flourish as with systemic industry change comes opportunity. Greg is on the cutting edge of these banking industry trends as banking is the only vertical market he works. Based on the breadth of his network, he has the uncanny ability to anticipate the hiring needs of his clients in the banking industry, and continually demonstrates a knack in staying ahead of the curve. Banks, now more than ever, are looking for this expertise and a trustworthy, collaborative partner to help 'see around corners' for them as they continue to build effective, high performing teams.
Current trends include the following: 1) An optimism that the punitive regulatory environment may continue to ease/subside and allow for banks to continue to grow and return to consistent profitability. 2) Despite that optimism, there is the need for strong Accounting Policy folks to deal with the implications of new accounting pronouncements including CECL (Current Expected Credit Loss model). This area is red hot moving into 2017. 3) As consolidation continues, healthy banks are continuing to build out their overall FP&A, Management Reporting, and Profitability (Customer, Product, and Corporate) functionalities within their banks. 4) Lastly, financial controls around SOX 404, Regulatory Reporting, and SEC Reporting, is as important as ever and many of these newly created roles are being housed in the Controller's office. (In 2016, Greg broadened his reach into BSA/AML roles and it is becoming a bit of a specialty.)
Candidates and clients alike consistently comment on Greg's humble demeanor, energy, transparency, honesty, ethics/integrity, attention to detail, relentless desire to stick with them through "thick and thin," and his ability to consistently surface top talent that is not only a great technical fit for his clients, but a cultural fit as well. By being himself, "Barlow" (as he is known) develops strong personal/business relationships with successful bank CEO's and CFO's nationwide. Clients trust him. If you are looking for open, honest communication, and doing it in a discreet, confidential fashion, Greg is your guy.
